Boeing 747-8 je největší a nejnovější model širokotrupého dvoupatrového dopravního letounu Boeing 747 vyráběný a vyvíjený společností Boeing.Boeing 747-8 nahrazuje dosavadní Boeingy B747-200B Air Force One VC-25A. O změně rozhodl americký Kongres v roce 2015, protože současná flotila dvou prezidentských speciálů 747 je v provozu již od roku 1991. Boeing 747 Air Force One je vybaven pokročilým komunikačním systémem a dalším speciálním vybavením, díky němuž je schopen fungovat jako plnohodnotné mobilní velitelské centrum amerických ozbrojených sil. Vybavení současných i připravovaného Air Force One je přísně utajované, úpravy ale zcela určitě zahrnují nejmodernější komunikační systémy, zesílení odolávající elektromagnetickému pulzu způsobenému jaderným výbuchem, pokročilé systémy elektronického boje pro rušení radarů a komunikace nebo přenosu dat nepřátelských letadel a střel, laserové směrové rušiče raket s infračerveným navedením a obranné světlice. Pravděpodobně také Air Force One disponuje ochranou před chemickými a biologickými útoky, pokud letadlo stojí na letišti. Nové interiéry budou mít výrazně větší konferenční místnosti, kanceláře a prostory pro zaměstnance Bílého domu, hosty a novináře.

The Boeing VC-25 is a military version of the Boeing 747 airliner, modified for presidential transport and operated by the United States Air Force as Air Force One, the call sign of any U.S. Air Force aircraft carrying the President of the United States.

Only two examples of this aircraft type are currently in service; they are highly modified Boeing 747-200Bs, designated VC-25A and having tail numbers 28000 and 29000. Although technically the Air Force One designation applies to the aircraft only while the President is on board, the term is commonly used to refer to the VC-25 in general.

The two aircraft often operate in conjunction with Marine One helicopters, which ferry the President to airports whenever a vehicle motorcade would be inappropriate. Two new aircraft, designated as VC-25B, are scheduled to be delivered by 2024.

The United States Air Force Special Air Mission provides air transportation for the President of the United States (POTUS), Vice President of the United States (VPOTUS), First Lady of the United States (FLOTUS), Presidential Cabinet, U.S. Congressional delegations (CODELs), and other high-ranking American and foreign dignitaries.

Za řízením stroje (výr. č. 32909, N747ER) byli vedoucí zkušební piloti Boeingu pro program B747 Joe MacDonald a Mark Fuerstein, kteří letoun přelétli na letiště Boeing Field v Seattlu. Po testech a certifikaci byl předán australské dopravní společnosti Qantas (VH-OEE).

The Boeing 747 is an American wide-body commercial jet airliner and cargo aircraft. The first wide-body airplane produced, it was the first plane dubbed a “Jumbo Jet”. Its distinctive hump upper deck along the forward part of the aircraft has made it one of the most recognizable aircraft. Manufactured by Boeing’s Commercial Airplane unit in the United States, the 747 was originally planned to have 150 percent greater capacity than the Boeing 707, a common large commercial aircraft of the 1960s. First flown commercially in 1970, the 747 held the passenger capacity record for 37 years.
